COLD START NOISE

Hi Guys

I have a small problem.

Sometimes when i start in the morning i hear a quick sound exactly when i start. The sound is there for a second then is gone. ... like a growling sound similar to the one from the gearbox when you miss a gear ( but the sound doesnt come from the gearbox)

I think is the starter motor not engaging on cold .. for a second...

Is it bad? Do i need to replace it?

Common noise on the Z during the colder months. I've had it for years with no side effects

The odd time when i start my Zed I hear a similar noise to you.

In my case I believe its the starter motor not disengaging once started...only makes the noise for a split second once fired up and only happens when starting from cold and as I said only happens the odd time.

Not too sure if its doing any damage...

Mine does that occasionally too, not ideal, but not too bad either, solution is to take the starter out and clean the Clutch dust, dirt etc. off the pinion gear shaft .
