COLD INTAKE

HI,,

Just wondering if any of you has install a cold intake and not these short ram that sucks hot air
That is all round the ingine....i have a z4 2005 3.0 ....did you get a nice thurst sound ... Tell me MORE!!!!

The general consensus and feedback from forum gurus is that the standard BMW intake is very good and that any induction kit will give little or no gain in performance terms.

However, if you do fit an induction kit, it's likely to give a bigger roar when you push the loud pedal :) . Remember that there's a natural source of cold air that get's channeled into the engine bay where the induction cone would sit. Once you're moving fast enough, there's probably enough cold air feeding through the duct to stop heat being drawn into the engine IMO. If its noise you're after, probably worth a punt on a £100 K&N

There is a couple of company's that make carbon fibre cold air intakes that are supposed to make a good sound, but they are rather expensive for just a better sound.

I think afe make one...
 
If you just want more intake sound, take out one or both foam inserts inside the sound generator.

its a pipe running from the air filter box to the cabin, has 2 bits of foam in the pipe to keep sound quiet, but easy to remove, just do a quick search, lots of pics, makes the in cabin sound much more enjoyable.
