Indeed, it does depend what you want out of it to be fair. I dropped £650 on the Gruppe M for my M, sounds epic and that's probably as far as it goes, worth £650? Probably not to most people, but to me I wouldn't live without the noise now. I'm under no illusion that performance wise though it does little if anything to the performance side of things. The placebo of performance is strong when you get more noise!
If you can afford supercharging, then yeah it's deffo the route to go for real performance. Either that, or as you mention upgrade to a bigger engine version.
