Coilovers

I've had my Z for over 50,000 miles now and one of the first things I did was put Eibachs springs on. It is now too low for my liking, breaking drop links once a month and, despite having new shocks upfront, crashy.

I have been thinking about going down the coil over route for a while,

Any opinions?

Thanks

Edit - cars milage is 135k

I have gaz shocks at rear and I think they're great

Had the same issue as you on eibachs,

So up front running non m springs and shocks got from a 2.2
And rear non m springs and adjustable gaz, new front arm wishbones and hunter alignment and its the best of both worlds

Admitadly not as poised on eibachs but more than enough fun and not so harsh.

Just what I did but you do what is best for your car

Thats bad that eibachs have caused drop links to break, especially when they are recommended for use with standard shocks

Considering the price, I'd rather go for a set of weitecs (little more money, and for all intents and purposes, a different branded set of kw v1)

Those PB coils do suspiciously look like bc racing coils too, might be worth chencking those out too (Think Baebas is running them on his coupe now)

I personally am running kw v2's on mine and find the car an absolte dream to drive. (considering it's not an M, so spend any more didn't feel necessary)

any reason you didnt go for the gaz all round?

Just don't have the money to spend on them, I think he said the fronts would be £425
Which would be adjustable coilovers.
But I'm actually really happy with my current set up

ouch thats not cheap! i have gaz shocks on my westfield and think they are quite good. i like the way you can change the hardness of them (cant remember the technical term  rebound?).

but what about Blistein b12?

The B12 kit comes with Eibach springs (sportline or pro kit), so will give OP the same ride height that he currently has (that he feels is too low).

Personally though, the B12 kit is something I'd consider.

for non-M z4 i think b12 lowers around 30 mm ( 3 cm ) and it is not so low. and it is quite easy to change.

I was wondering if i buy the b12 kit what else do i have to change ? the struts?

I didn't think the b12 kit was adjustable?

Whatever it lowers by, will be what OP has already lowered by (as both OP and b12 uses the same eibach springs). OP doesn't like the current ride height, so presumably he won't like b12 either.

Or am I missing something?

Ok. then it is not good for him but it is good for me :)

Do you consider buying b12 as well?

b12 is something I'd definitely look at. I'll be fitting some Eibach pro kit springs in a few weeks time, see how I get along with the ride height etc and will decide from there what I want to do.

However, i'm also tempted to wait a bit longer and go for KW v3 coilovers.

Time will tell...

If you change the front springs too .. the amount of work is not worth it to change only the springs.

i will do the entire kit.

The entire kit is ~£900, the srpings I've paid £90 for (from a forum member), fitted for £150, I'm not going to splash out an extra £800 right away because it's "not worth it". Many members on here think it is worth it.

good point :) but the guy said that the springs are braking the drop links every month. Maybe because of stock dampers?

Possibly,. but dozens other Z owners on here use eibach springs (with OEM dampers) and don't report any drop link issues.
