coding query

After a long and patient wait for a spare 'lear dsp' (carver) amp to come up on ebay, I sourced one from germany; allegedly from an x3 but the same model number exactly and says e83/e85 on it.

Stereo now works but when faded to right rear channel I get some noise in the front speakers.

Also the dsp functions don't seem to have any effect and when selecting, say, cathedral, there is no visual change on display or sound difference.

Have I bought a dud, is this a coding issue, or perhaps legacy of water damage affecting cabling ?

Red faced that I chose not to go down the (more costly) aftermarket route...

On the plus side the subs seem to have more ooomph now (could be as amp is tuned to an X3 ?)
