Coding M3 CSL oil temperature warning Lights

Hi folks!

I would like to code my DME with the light sequence from the M3 CSL.
Lights go out to quickly, Im not too concern about it, cause I always wait until oil temp reaches 90-85 to go above 4000rpm, same rutine as in my B7 RS4, but coding this mod would be what should have come from the factory. :!:

Has anyone done this mod? If so.. How?

I have NCSExpert running.

Step by step guide would be great.

Cheers!

Interested in this. I pretty much ignore the light sequence and wait until my oil temp is up to 80+ before going over 3k - 3.5k rpm.

Means I'm driving for 10 min's before I can give it some.

+1

I thought the lights were coolant temp ? Anyhoo, can't help with coding I'm afraid.

You may be waiting sometime. I spoke to the fella on Cutters who went in depth coding features on the M3 DME such as this and produced a program that he sells for a nominal fee to allow this option. He wasn't interested in doing the DME in our cars as a) there isn't the demand and b) he would need a MSS70 DME on its own for some time to carry out the programming, don't know many people that have a spare working one knocking around he could borrow!
It needs someone who can actually go in depth into the code in the DME and knows what they're doing, it's not an NCSexpert job I don't think, more complicated than that.
Shame, as it would be a good feature :(

Link to the thread on the M3 tool, good read if your into that sort of thing, but gives an idea on the complicated nature of re-programming the DME:

yep agreed, we need a bod with some time and inclination free.. perhaps this person exists on here somewhere?
It's a shame that not all m3s and z4ms have the lights linked to oil temp (a la CSL) and instead water temp, as that means pretty much zero with these engines imo. Still no real hardship to keep an eye on oil temp gauge just below rev counter.
I would love to get the throttle map adjusted slightly also as I find the initial pick up just a smidge over enthusiastic, again though I'm pretty sure that's no job for ncs etc. and needs to be done inside the dme, a complicated beast in our cars I'm led to believe.
Evolve might be worth a call, they should know the definitive answer.

I was hoping getting this mod before the remapping.

Well, looks like Evolve will need to add a new feature in my future firmware.

Still looking for a 4.10 pinion and ring or a 4.10 diff

pretty sure evolve can do this as they have cracked the dme for alpha-n. Be interested to hear what they say about it when you ask.
3.9 diff is very high on my hit list as well. I've pretty much maxed the car in 6th once (indicated 175ish) but can't really see myself doing that again... 160 seems fast enough to me, and better acceleration a fine trade off. You're going all out with the 4.1, what does that reduce vmax to do you know?
