Coding cigarette lighter to shut off when car is off

Does anyone know if this is possible? I use the cigarette lighter power source for my bluetooth adapter. Power stays on after shutting off the car. I forgot to turn off the adapter the other day and it killed my battery. It'd sure be nice if power was disabled by the car to this feature.

I thought it turns off after a set period?
This is how my other cars have behaved. My e86 never seems to turn off. When I replaced the battery the USB adapter immediately began glowing upon terminal connection...this leads me to believe it discharged the batter after being on for two days.

I don't have Carly but a while back I read that their website was supposed to tell you what it can code but I wasn't able to find any meaningful info on their site.

On the E46, which is very similar to the E85, the lighter socket is hard wired to its fuse. The Australian variant gets a switched socket via a relay that comes on with the ignition (presumably to avoid flattening the battery on the outback.)

Being a high current thing it's unlikely to ever be on a software controlled power line.

Ive not had a dig around in the fuse box so I could be spouting s**t in some cars you can change this behaviour by physically moving the fuse from the upper to lower position (its a fuse connector with 3 pins instead of just the two).

I may have a dig around a little later on and see if I can find any info to support or debunk my above statement.

The cigarette lighter is hard wired to the fuse box, so it is hot all the time. You could move the wire in the fuse box to a fuse that is only hot when the key is on.

Had the same issue. Ended up wiring up a triple cigarette lighter socket to the auxilery line (so pos 1, not ignition pos2) and tucked everything under the passenger footwell. It is indeed annoying that it is always hot. Changing the wiring to a slot that isnt hot is a good idea. I shouldve thought about that earlier. Perks of my current method, no messy wires.

Out of curiousity, do you have a 6 CD changer? You could get these bluetooth modules that piggyback off the radio/6CD changer. life saver tbh
