Code setting criteria?

Is there any resource to see what the diagnostic code setting criteria are?

I can find various code descriptions but what I'd really like to know is what is the exact criteria for setting a code.

For example one description of A696 is 'Hall sensor, open circuit, closing movement, rear-end module' this is shown against module CTM-89 which seems about right, but searching for A696 on here shows people have had issues with micro switches with this code, and I can find other descriptions such as 'CTM: Microswitch, cowl panel reached' which one is correct?

Thanks

That is a very good site as it tells you which module the code comes from

BUT it still does not show the criteria, so for example code A6A3 is 'Hydraulic-fluid temperature sensor' but what does that really mean?Temperature is too high?, sensor is open circuit? Also if you cross reference to the wiring diagram the sensor appears to actually be in the roof motor rather than sensing the oil temperature, so for me there is still missing information.

I'm guessing the BMW official software (Rhinegold?) has this information
