Afternoon all,

What’s the best code reader for E85/E89 and a sensible price?

Many thanks.

This has been asked many times on here, loads of threads if you do a search, here is the latest one I replied to

Choice depends on if you want to go Laptop or Handheld systems.

I think you will be happy with the Creator 310+, quite a powerful tool to have and very portable have been impressed with it on my Z4 and Z3. If you ever want to go down the laptop route then BMW Scanner 1.4 is far easier to set up and use over the BMW INPA option.

[ref]colb[/ref], I have the Autophix 5900 which has always served my needs well.
Have you ever compared it with the Creator 310+ ?
I'd be interested to know if there is much difference, but as I don't use mine a great deal I have not fully explored it's capabilities.
Just wondered if you'd ever had an opportunity to see them both side by side?

No not seen what the Autophix can do, the Creator however is just for the BMW range of models is the Autophix other makes capable?
I used to rely on BMW INPA and BMW Scanner 1.4 on the laptop until neither of them could sort an airbag light I had, read a post about the Creator being good at airbags so spent out and bought one. Glad I did as it immediately found a code in a satellite module and cleared it first go. I now tend to use the Creator first and then the others on the laptop to delve deeper into the modules. Have successfuly coded an airbag module to another members car using NCS Expert which comes with the INPA software.
Keep meaning to write up a complete menu of what the Creator can do, only downside I found with it so far was that the menu item 'Transport Mode' did not function. I think it may become functional on later software updates, mine was shipped with Ver 11.? and when I used their update software it upgraded to Ver 12.1 but Transport Mode function still not functioning. The update did however add a Battery Registration Icon to the main menu which is required for later E86 Cars.

Fair enough.
The Autophix is kind of BMW specific. Gives you the options for Mini and Rolls too.
It does live data too, but I'm no expert in that.
Yet to find anything it can't clear, but as said, my experience is limited.
I like the fact that there's no ambiguity with it. tell you in plain English what the issue is.
I'll keep working with it and following your work too and hopefully I'll be able to form a little bit more of an opinion.
Until then, whilst I'd endorse the Autophix, I think I'd push forum members to the Creator, purely because you're here with the experience in using it.
