Clutch slipping

I've just spent the morning reading the threads on clutches but no mention of mileage.. I have an 03 3.0 Zed and it's on 46 thousand.. The car does get driven hard but that's why I got it, anyway clutch appears to be slipping is this right and is it expensive

my clutch was replaced by BMW at ~36k

mine as juddering rather than slipping though... CDV can cause slippage though...

Oh ok, I did read about the cdv on the forum but didn't realise it could cause that.. Take it was replaced on warranty

Best way to see if your clutch is indeed slipping... Select 5th/6th gear, peak torque RPM (~2.5-3k rpm), clutch fully engaged and floor the accellerator, preferably up a steepish hill.

In this instance, the engine is providing maximum torque, but the gearbox/hill is providing maximum resistance, therefore the weak link (the clutch) will slip.

If it has indeed been slipping for a while, be prepared to change the DMF too... I've seen old VAG diesels ignore this advice only to have it soon explode spectacularly taking out the gearbox! :o
