Clutch replacement - what do I need?

My E86 is just about to reach 150k and I'm getting clutch judder when things are cold. It's probably still got life left in it, but I'm thinking about proactively getting it sorted sooner rather than later.

With all the wisdom in this forum, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction of what's needed :dance2:

I’ve gone to RealOEM and used my VIN to locate parts for my car: 2006 Z4 Coupe E86 Z4 3.0si [Type Code: DU52]

What does the note at the top of the table mean - highlighted in pink? My car is the manual 6 speed gearbox, so do I need clutch kit part no. 21207587369, or something different?

If I go to AutoDoc and search for 21207587369, I get 5 results.

• LUK Clutch Kit [part 624328800] £124
• SACHS XTend Clutch Kit [part 3000 951 906] £160.00
• QUINTON HAZELL Clutch Kit [part no. QKT4145AF] £244
• EXEDY Clutch Kit [part no. BMK2050] £286
• VALEO Clutch Kit 3P [part no. 826738] £609

I believe LuK and Sachs were OE suppliers for this part?

Cross referencing another site: Mister-Auto, they're also suggesting: LuK 624328800 / SACHS 3000951906 / Valeo 826738 (for £290 - half the price of AutoDoc).

So, what am I looking at here folks? Please save me from disappearing down this rabbit warren!!! What do I need? 🤔

May not be much help to you but when the clutch on my Eunos (MX-5) gave up the ghost, I bought a Sachs 3 piece clutch kit and a clutch spiggot bearing. My indy mechanic told me how easy it was to fit on a rear wheel drive car compared to FWD. Consequently, it was not that expensive to fit either, less than £100 if I remember correctly. That was in June 2010 and it ran great until I took the car off the road in 2016 for reasons unrelated to the clutch - that is to say an exponential case of bodyshell corrosion.

Pink bit is a bit confusing in this instance. Normally it denotes a sub-section of parts specific to say MSport spec or whatever. For example when looking at suspension to find non-sport or sport spring part No.s.

I'd consider a flywheel if you are doing the clutch, whilst its all apart seems mad not to do that also. Def change release bearing. And if you haven't already...lose the clutch delay valve, simple job comparatively.

But yea thats the kit number and then the breakdown of bits included.

Consider pricing up a flywheel as well. Its a DMF and they are known to fail. Sadly quite expensive.

Thanks for the responses all.

I read on this forum about replacing the dual-mass flywheel (DMF) at the same time too 👍

According to RealOEM, it’s part number 21207573785 for my car.

£350 a pop

😮. Why on earth are these so damn expensive???

And when it comes to choosing a particular option, is there any specific wisdom between say LuK vs Sachs? Both of which I think were OE suppliers for these parts.
