Clutch on it's way out?

My e86 has done 118k, has the usual notchy gear change until it warms up but no other noticeable issue's, recently it doesn't seem to pull aswell until I get to 4k revs, the other day I pulled over turned off the DCT button and gave it some beans only to be engulfed in the smell of burning clutch, a lot of revs and not alot of spin, to my knowledge the clutch has never been replaced but shows no other problems, I can pull away in 4th gear (just) but not 2nd,
Can anyone give me a likely idea if it is dying or not.
Cheers

a good reliable test is to go full throttle in 5th gear from about 60mph. Will be very easy to tell if the clutch is slipping or not.

Sounds goosed , couple ways to know for sure , cruise long in 3rd /4th until you feel need to change up but then apply more throttle, you should see revs go up but without the forward motion.
Or simply park,up in 1st, handbrake on hard, without touching handbrake ease the clutch up, if you hear revs as opposed to stalling it that's another indication its fooooked

Test as above , low revs , in 4th and put foot down and see if it holds. If you are unsure then take it ( while it still drives ) to a place that can confirm it. Clutches arent super expensive but include a DMF and labour , can make it more painful.

Thanks for the replys  would it be the dmf that sounds like a bag of spanners being shook until the clutch is depressed?
Yes indeed it could well be that.

Does indeed sound like your clutch is shot. :( Find a gentle hill to Gimbel up. Pop it into 4th a push down on the accelerator. If it's going it will slip.
