Over the last few months I have noticed judder in the clutch when from stationery, if I only apply small amounts of gas then only small or no judder, any ideas what's causing it?
Mine does this a little bit when cold, but it's only very very slight too. I have noticed it in other clutches as they get older and worn, but have still gone on fine for years.
Probably just a sign of an older/wearing clutch in your case if it is just slight. I mainly notice it the first few low-speed set-offs I do every from cold (morning)... also, if I set off in 2nd it doesn't do it.

sounds very similar to what mine was doing. as I had warranty at the time thought Id mention it to the dealer. They didnt even argue and replaced it...
Mine does it very slightly from cold, same thing happened with the Ford SportKa I had a few years back & both dealers told me the same thing: probably down to slightly uneven clutch wear which is perfectly normal; they were happy to strip the clutch down & replace it if there was a fault, but if they found normal wear then the work would be chargeable
The CDV probably helps you notice the judder though... maybe when the fluid is thicker when cold!? it slows the action further?
I certainly notice the CDV jerkiness the most when the car is cold anyway... cold clutch materials, cold springs in the clutch plate, cold flywheel friction surface, cold hydraulic fluid... all set up to make everything just not work as perfectly as it does when warm!
Well I dont know if im reading this right but me being new to the z4 world let me try to put into words what happened to me this past week...
I stated noticing that when pressing the clutch all the way down it would "click, click, click" slightly, I would re'start the car and sometimes it would go away. Or i would just press the clutch about 80 percent of the way to change gears and it was fine. Now this was going on for a week.
Yesterdaythough, while trying to merge into the freeway, traffic was being terrible so i decided to pass everyone to merge in, when doing this i took off like a bat out of hell and abruptly shifted from 1st to 2nd and then a regular shift by 3rd....i think it was a little too late because now the noice and clutch feel is a lot worst. Its pinging got a lot louder and i noticed that when i turn the car on i cant press the clutch all the way down because it will ping very very loudly... Another thing i noticed was that now the clutch feels a bit stiffer AND when pressing down on it about 90 percent of the way I start feeling a sort of stoppege...like, ill be able to push the clutch all the way in, before start up, but when i do i feel ther is something holding it back about 10 percent....i really hope that makes sence... Any suggestions guys cuz i cant seem to find anything solid on this problem in the sight Thanks
