Clutch/Flywheel for Z4MC

Hi everyone,

My Z4M Coupe has a clunking noise on engaging the clutch and I took it to a BMW specialist for his opinion.

He says I need a new flywheel.

Dealers want ££££ for a flywheel and clutch kit.

Was looking at LUK as an alternative. Could get the clutch kit and flywheel for sub £500.

Has anyone got any experience with LUK clutches/flywheels?

SACHS clutches seem affordable too. Was wondering if anyone's had any experience with that too? Would there be any issues with a Sachs clutch and LUK flywheel?

Thanks

what mileage is the car on?

I'd be amazed if it needs a new clutch/fly unless it's done a lot of hard miles. The clunk could well be the diff input shaft splines - that's quite a common... If you can live with the noise and it isn't affecting the drive/operation of the car I wouldn't bother personally!

Thanks for the reply.

The cars done well over 100k and I took it to Noel Butler @ NCB autokraft who's sure it is the flywheel. I'll have a chat with him in person when I pick up the car

Sachs and LUK are both tier 1 suppliers to the top manufacturers. Sachs is now owned by ZF who made the Z4M gearbox. I have used both brands without any issues over the years. Check out Autodoc if you can wait a little while for the parts to arrive. They often do 40% off promotions.
