Clutch/Flywheel advice

I've got a few niggles with the clutch (occasional neutral noise, occasional judder). It's fine for now, but it's probably going to need doing in the not too distant future. I'll use a local transmission specialist and maybe see if they can have a look at the cars reluctance to go into 1st sometimes as well.

Anyway, I'm wondering if I can get some recommendations for the the clutch/flywheel combo.

Can anyone recommend a source for a good price OEM kit?

Are there any non-OEM recommendations, e.g. single mass conversion? Daily drivability and low noise (no chatter) are what's important to me, which makes me wary of light weight flywheel kits, but I'm open to suggestions.
 
Be interested to know too. My clutch is very rattly when doing slow manoeuvres etc. I too struggle to get first sometimes but I imagined that was something to do with the gear linkage rather than clutch.

I had a new clutch plate fitted under warranty a year ago so i guees mine is just noisey!

You'd have to give some more info on the car you drive as there are a number of different clutches used in the z4. non interchangeable for the most.

Changing the box oil will help with the shifting action. Mine was pretty difficult, better with a change but it is a clunky box in that regard.
ZHP will help with shifting action too.
 
Oh right, yup mines an 06 3.0si manual.

So LUK is a reputable brand, people have had good experience with it?

I've had new transmission oil on the last service without much impact.
 
If you paid someone to do it are you sure they did? Mine was noticeably smoother and what came out was icky!
 
I recently had a new clutch and flywheel. The garage used standard parts from luck off the shelf. Also did the cdv delete. Cost about 1100 Inc labor
 
Ttv engineering should be able to supply a light weight flywheel , I had one off them for an s4 , there was a little rattle at very low revs but you soon learn to use a lower gear and not labour the engine . There was no difference in clutch feel , just picked up revs a bit quicker due to less inertia , it's surprising how much difference there is in weight when you have them side by side .
 
Just a foot note to what I posted before , if you go light weight , check the thickness of the flywheel where it bolts onto the crank with a micrometer , they can be slightly thinner hence the bolts need to be ground down is little . A mate once tourqed the bolts up on one and snapped a bolt into the crank due to it being to long ! Luckily the engine was on the bench . Even if you pay someone to do it make them aware of this so there's no blaming parts or machinists .
