Clutch failing?

Wondering if my clutch is on the way out.

Yesterday I had a couple of times in first gear when I had lack of power then later on I accidentally shifted to 5th instead of 3rd  the engine gave the usual under stress sound but then the revs suddenly went up with no extra speed. I haven't noticed any smells at all but I drive with my windows down (yes in winter ).

I haven't tried a standing start in high gear yet, will try later.

The car has done about 110k miles. I don't' remember seeing any clutch replacement in it's invoices.

Sounds like clutch slip. Has the height of the bite point o the clutch pedal changed significantly - another sign of the clutch on its way out. On an empty straight road - move off change into second and accelerate - you will feel the clutch slip if the revs rise but the car moves away slowly as if trying to catch up with the revs/engine.

A standing start in a high gear is going to do your clutch no good at all, as previously mentioned pull away normally (in first gear!) get into a higher gear & then floor it.
If the revs rise faster than they should do for the road speed attained you have clutch slip.

Bite point doesn't seem to have changed. Accelerating was fine in second gear no hesitation.

Can this be intermittent or could it be something else?
