hey guys not been on here in a while
due to broken car and busy work.

so was driving back last week giving it a bit of beans but then all of a sudden from first then into second wouldn't get into gear then trying frantically to get any gear but wouldn't go, I ended up coasting into a layby.

waited 4 hours for a pick up lorry as the first one was like a spec trailer and the car was too low (despite saying its low over the phone but do they correlate this to green flag no this would be too sensible)

luckily I have an ace of a mechanic friend I took the car too and we started stripping it down

I basically minced the clutch plate

It took us together 2 1/2 hours to get the clutch out
the gearbox isn't actually that heavy

new clutch was £254.00 this was a LUK from ajays

the biggest pain was cutting the exhaust pipes out as they were to rusted to take off the it was

take off heat shield
one of the sway bars gear linkage, starter motor
 
he mainly deals with specialist cars like this

thought while the cars there id do some detailing with a da and G6 compound

maybe but didn't have £500 quid for a new one.


yes its all back together and working good now, got to get used to a new clutch its a bit like a bear trap in that its strong spring and you have to be smooth letting off the pedal
 
500 quid for a flywheel :! Thats madness.

I fit them for a living and the cost price is nowhere near that :lol:

Hi

What price can you get them at? I just cjecked Euro Car Parts and its £486 :cry: I have some issues with 1st and 2nd gear and I am starting to think it could be the clutch. I have done the normal test and the car stalls as it should but you never know when its time :headbang:

Just had to do the clutch in the Jag and that was a ball busting £986 for clutch and DMFW!!!
 
Bump - does anyone know the best place & price to find a LUK flywheel. Cheapest I've found so far is £411 2003 3.0l
