Clutch delay valve

Hi everyone,
Quick question for you all, I removed my CDV yesterday with the intention of modifying it following the guide which has been posted around the board. On removing it, I then followed the step in the guide using the 3.5mm drill piece to knock out the valve part, except that after doing this part no valve came out at all nor did anything else stated on the instructions. The only thing that came out was a small metal disc approx 3.5mm in diameter with a hole in the centre of it. The drill bit then slid through and the hole in the CDV was now bigger, looking inside the CDV this is all that has happened and there is nothing else inside which could come out, on refitting the CDV the car does seem different but seems to kangaroo between 1st and 2nd when changing although the car was only tested when cold and wasn’t revved.
Is this normal as I would have thought that the gear changes would be alot smoother, are the Z4M CDV completely different to the other Z4 models. Any thoughts and suggestions are much appreciated.
Regards
Matthew

Modding or removing the CDV doesnt make that much of a difference on the M. I've removed mine entirely by the way. As for your modding method i'm sure someone who has actually done it will come along shortly.

i removed mine...... honestly i wasted my afternoon, i really couldnt tell.
if it was removed without my knowledge honestly........ i wouldnt have a clue it had been done, not worthwhile on the ///M models!

I cant believe no one can notice the difference with this mod even if its only when driving very hard on gear change instead of having that very slight slip (valve helping you make a smooth change) when you let the clutch up with valve removed there is no slip at all just back on the power, I did mine with clutch stop and it is so much nicer to drive hard or round town.,

Ga, Playalistic and Beedub are incorrect. (no offence guys)

It made a huge difference on mine and also on my friends old M. He, like myself was over the moon after having this done.

Api is quite correct, the biggest difference is definitely in town.

I agree that there is a positive difference with it removed and it's worthwhile doing, however, I wouldn't say there is a hugely dramatic improvement.

None taken but i do stand by what i said. Of course i was already driving the car for several months before i had it removed and i could have adjusted to the way the drivetrain works and needs to be handled so after the change the difference was that much less....

The disc is the restriction that you are trying to remove, but if you not sure you've removed it right just leave the CDV completely off.
I'm also surprised that some off you can't notice a useful difference I could tell how much nicer the clutch felt after driving the car ten metres.

again each to their own imo on my car it was a worthless exercise......

i honestly wish i hadnt bothered........

everybody thats happy with this mod thats coolio.

Thanks for the replies people the only reason i didnt remove it fully is because it is still under BMW warranty, i will have to give it a few months and see if i get use to it and then i can make a final judgement.
