Does the 2.2 have a CDV and if so is there a larger bore replacement available?

All Z4s had it fitted as standard. 2.0 to ///M.

Easiest thing is to remove it

I think you can buy online. I have a spare CDV from when I took mine out.... You're welcome to it if you wanna drill a hole through it?

if the cdv is an older model, you can punch out the internal parts with a drill bit and mallet or similar, and put it back in. otherwise your best bet is buying one from zeckhausen racing, but i doubt any garage / mechenic would ever notice it missing

For the record, don't drill out CDVs, use a proper sized punch or upside down drill bit to hammer the insert out. If you drill, you can't be sure of getting all the shavings out, and you do not want them getting into the slave cylinder, it could score the bore and will ruin the piston seal.

I like your suggestion as an alternative and agree that it is probably a better way to do it. However, a number of members have drilled the restrictor out as per the 'how to' guide on here. Can't recall hearing of any issues....

I was planning on punching it out but if that was unsuccesful i will drill it out. If you put a dab of grease on the end of the drill bit it will hold onto the swarf and a good blow with the air line short sort any left out

Hi guys

Can anyone tell me an economical place to buy a CDV, I have had a look on line but to no avail. Popped in to Scottall yesterday and they wanted £60+vat. I have seen some other threads that indicated this part was about £10

Thanks

I don't understand why people aren't just leaving it out? you don't need a replacement, just remove the old one and join the tubes together, bypass a CDV completely!

If I had to claim on my AUC warranty for a gearbox etc I think they would laugh me out the dealership once they had seen it was missing!

Well i gave it some thought, did a bit of research, got information from zeckhausen racing, was going to get a new replacement and then contacted Pete at Autotech Telford. He said pop in and I'll sort it so I did.

Rang him this morning to see if about 12:00 today would be good and he said fine, arrived car straight on ramp, 20 minutes later off ramp restrictor removed and I drove away and it only cost £10!!!!!!

MUCH nicer to drive

Absolutly delighted, what service cant recommend highly enough.
