Clutch cable

Just pulled up into a parking space earlier this morning, went to put the clutch down... It fell right to the floor, nothing there.

Managed to limp the car home slamming it into gear though.

My first thoughts is this will be the clutch cable?

Anyone had this problem before? Costly to fix?

Clutch cables went out with the late 80s didnt they? I thought all cars today were hydraulic.. My last cable car was my 92 Scirocco..

Oh... I'm not that clued up on mechanical stuff... (Obviously!)

Any ideas what the issue is likely to be? Just the clutch itself?

It could be a lot of things master cylinder, slave cylinder, hose split, something else mechanical ...for e.g. the pedal and/or attachments, or the clutch plate , if you're not mechanically inclined best take it to a garage !

Any fluid under the car ?

Good luck :D

This happened to me in the jag a month a go! £980 later for clutch and flywheel :x Hope this is something simple. Good luck

My mate rang me earlier, after getting it up on the ramp, it turns out a hose has split. Great news, compared to what it could have been!

He did say my front pads are low too, so I'm on the look for a reasonably priced BBK.
