Clunk when blipping the throttle

Hi guys,

after a year of ownership, shes finally got me a tad worried! When driving at low speeds the throttle response seems to be really bad, also makes a bit of a clunk noise when a touch of acceleration is applied at Idle.

Not sure whether this is plugs, coil pack, DISA (does my 3.0 Z4C have them one), Throttle body...

Wondered if you guys had come across anything similar?

any help would be appreciated before i book it into a Dealer.

Thanks
Garry

Welcome to the forum! Or at least posting. Looks like you've been lurking for a while?

You appear to have a facelift car (2006+) which has the N52 engine. It has a DISA, it is not prone to the self-extracting retainer pin problem seen on M54s, but the N52 DISA still has been known to fail, but without the heart wrenching thought of pins falling into the combustion chamber. The usual failure mode leaves the flap slightly open, which would effect low end torque, so it is a possibility. While the N52 has a throttle body, it is not normally used, the valvetronic system manages the throttle by altering valve lift, so very unlikely to be the problem.

I'm sorry, I really have no idea what may be the problem, but more information about your engine never hurts! If you in fact do not have a facelift car, (I've been fooled before) my little valvetronic lesson does not apply.
