'clunk' most notable when changing between 1st and 2nd

Hey guys 1st post here!

I have a 2006 imola red Z4M and love it.

One thing I've noticed recently is a metallic 'clunk' that is most evident when I change from 1st to 2nd when I push the clutch pedal in. Took it to BMW and they said it's the diff - shouldn't be that loud so they had a look and couldn't find anything wrong!

Is this a normal sound that other people have as well?

Cheers for the advice.

Dave

Perfectly normal in my experience, at low speeds it's quite alarming the noise at first. But you get used to it.

Welcome & great choice ;)

Lots of members talk about this so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Get some pics up!

I too get lots of diff chatter while pushing the clutch in. Not like a clunk though, it's more of a ticking noise...? Dont know if i'm explaining it properly...

Welcome! The gearbox is pretty lousey in general, but can't say i've noticed any 'clunks'

Thanks guys! A bit reassuring. It is only when I try to do slow manoeuvres... ie. parking/coming out of the driveway/turning from a red light.

Car is otherwise great to drive! :D

Hi mate, Would not worry to much they are all a bit clunky in the drive train area, Nice car and colour although the black one's are faster, :driving:

Same here most noticeable at low speeds, it goes away with the clutch down I've always taken it as standard given feedback here...proper car!
