I stopped at the petrol station to fill up, opened the door, swung my leg out and caught the silver door handle trim with the tip of my trainer which pinged off and landed face down on the concrete floor. I now have a door handle with gravel rash :(

i think the mods should delete your profile, this forum is for people who love and cheerish their zeds

I did nearly shed a tear when I picked the part up while desperately trying not to make eye contact with the person in the car behind me.

Were you vaulting out the car ?

New ones are about £27 from BMW on eBay IIRC. Got a scratch on one of mine and keep thinking about getting a new one because one of the clips on the back is also broken... But £27 is a lot for a piece of plastic. If you get one from a breakers watch out for that because the clips are quite easy to break if you are a ham-fisted b'stard like me

Shame, but I'll have to see how on eath I could kick the door handle getting out...

BTW - not all handle colours are available at BMW these days. Think they stopped the matt silver that was a common colour

Good point, mine are chrome line which are still available.

I'm not completely clear on how I managed it. I think it was a combination of not opening the door as wide as normal and new trainers that threw the clearance out a little :)

My mate did the same with the passenger side handle and put a score on the handle. Luckily I fitted a new interior last weekend do have fixed it.

I might have a spare handle. What finish is yours?

I'm embarrassed to say, but when I read this post earlier I had to take a look at a photo if a zed door to see where the handle is. Surely you must have pulled a move that Louis Spence would have been proud of to manage to kick of the handle!

No wonder you had to make sure the driver behind wasn't looking!

It's a satin silver finish but I don't know the official name for it. If you have a spare that matches that would be great, let me know how much you want for it including p&p :)

I kicked mine off within days.

I think its the way I get the legs out first when the roof is up as I am quite tall.

Now the clips are broken so it comes off even more easily.

If I have one criticism of the Z4 is that the interior trim is a little poor. Coming from a TT mk1 where everything was machined aluminium its not nearly as robust in a Z.

Forgot about this thread. My spare is silver finish. Couple of blemishes

Just back from filling up. Didnt get anywhere near the door handle! I'll work on my flexibility and all round agility and report back in another 250 miles!
