Closing the roof from the key ?

Hello ,

On my car I can open the roof from the key but not shut it . Is this something that can be coded in via Carly / bimmercode ? Or something actually physical that’s needed ?

Thank you

If yes it can be coded, just worth checking, put key in drivers door turn and hold in the lock position, hold till it completes the cycle

Yes , so at the moment I can hold the unlock button down on the fob and the roof will come down … but when I hold the lock button on the fob … the roof doesn’t shut .

Needs to be coded
Just to mention when it's done
You'll press and hold and the roof will close but it'll time out before windows go up , so you'll just need to press and hold lock again for the windows to close
Or buy a gaptech

Ok thanks for the info ……

Sorry another question then …with the roof in its closed position but the windows down , when i press and hold the lock fob button , the windows don’t go up . Another coding thing ?

Yes probably, all part of the same anti trap I guess, BMW don't want you to be able to cause a accident by closing roof/windows while been away from the car

My car has been 'carlyed' at some point in prior ownership and does the same, wont wind the windows fully up. Kind of defeats the point really that you have to go back to the car to close the windows

Can you not just hold the key down a 2nd time then to close the windows ?

Sometimes mine go fully up, other times they don’t. I know it is self defeating but if I stand closer to the car it usually works.
Only time I’ve actually found it of any use was a few weeks back. Four on the drive with roofs open to air when the rain started. Me stood like some kind of demented scarecrow trying to press four fobs at once.

Bit of a trek from Southampton for that , but appreciate the offer . Think I know of a few my way who have bimmercode

I'm in Swindon so not absolutely miles away. But I'm in Salisbury a fair bit if you do need it. Send me a DM if you fancy the drive or just want to put the ground work for if I'm ever in Salisbury. Can exhanche numbers. But if you sort it your end then all good!

Ah thanks for the offer and I’ll see how I get on more local if possible … although a friend today tried to code it using bimmercode and was unsuccessful due to it not supporting E85 era cars ?

Well blow me down and call me Frank ... i was outside tending to the roof, a nice clean up, I thought I would try the remote close again.

Opened as usual remotely fine, then hit lock and held it and it closed but windows down still. So, thought I would try the button again a second time, nothing ...

... well whats the harm in trying a third time, and up went the windows

I think I’m leaning towards getting the gaptech thing … seems it works well and is easy to fit yourself ?

Buy the gaptech, it's up there with one of the best mods you can do to the car, all for around £100.
