Hey Guys,
Just very recently picked up a Z4 Coupé 3.0 Si Sport. I love it.

However I noticed in traffic the other day that when pulling off in 1st gear for a few moments there is a click or couple of clicks coming from the rear of the car. Any ideas, it only happens when im pulling off. Also Ive noticed that when the car is in neutral and the clutch is released there is a whirring sound, when the clutch is engaged no whirring?

help!

Sounds like 2 different causes...

The whirring noise is usually clutch release bearing or input shaft bearing on the gearbox. It is normal to have some degree of noise.

Aint a clue about your first noise..

Whirring as Z4M-2006 says Clutch release bearing
Clicks Possibly noise from the half shafts or parking brakes releasing?
I get the occasional 'click' from the rear end and assume its the drive train loading the half shafts as I accelerate away.
Is it causing a problem?
If not relax and enjoy the drive in your new motor :driving: .
