Clicking sound over bumps.

Greetings. I've had the new 2008 Z4 Roadster for a few days now and am having a blast. However, I noticed that when the top is up and I go over some bumps I get a clicking sound coming from the trunk/top area. I don't hear it when the top is down and I've tried adjusting the storage compartment to the up position when the top is up with no changes. Not a major thing, just slightly annoying to hear when driving. I've tried feeling around for what's making the noise as I drive but have come up empty handed. Any suggestions?

Well, since you haven't gotten any responses and, I know it will be more than slightly ennoying soon, I'll jump in. You say clicking...
- are they metallic or plastic sounding ??
- are they louder over bigger bumps ??
- does it react with the suspension ??
- do you hear them over speed bumps ??
- does it still occur after you raise the top a couple of inches ??
- does it come from the same area ??
- does it seem like more than one ??

Inquiring minds want to know !! Well, at least one...

Hi, I had a similar issue with mine and was a cracked rear suspention coil- no biggie if it is this as was covered under warenty and should be less than £100 if your warenty is out. Hope this helps.

Hmm. It's sounds like a plastic clicking to me and is more apt to be produced over a series of vibrations/bumps than over a single large bump. I only hear it with the top up, but haven't tried it with the top up only a few inches. I have noticed though, that as the weather has warmed up the sound starts to diminish which is only furhter reinforcing my idea that it is plastic in nature. It always seems to be coming from the rear, directly behind the passenger's seat. If it disappears as the weather gets even warmer here I will have to wait until the fall so I can replicate for my stealer.

I really hope this isn't the case being that the car is less than a month old! :o Although on my old '05 I did have two cracked mounts in the rear once.
