Clicking Noise

I have a clicking noise which appear to be eminating from behind my business stereo 2003 3.0 Z4. Sometimes its short,today it was longer and stopped when I hit the stereo. I was of the opinion it was something to do with the CD drive so I ejected the CD and still needed to clout it.

It happens intermittently sometimes upon unlocking the car via remote and sometimes on starting the car or at least putting the key in the iginition and turning to position 1&2.

Any ideas???

sound like a dodgy earth connection being amplified through the speaker system

Not coming through stereo 9 times out of 10 its not on as I switch it off when parking you can hear it from behind the stereo hence the clonking in that area
