Clear snow from car

If the car has been parked in the car park all day and it has snowed, then realistically all one can do is clear the windows. I for one am certainly not going to be clearing all the snow off in my suit!

I guess this is a reason to wash the car every week, even at this time of year, to minimise the scratching from the snow sliding off?

I never cleared snow of my roof until one day in the 5 series when I was braking for a corner and a load of snow came forward onto the windscreen. I couldn't see a thing. Fortunately I managed to clear it, but I was worried I would damage the wipers.
I now clear most off the top leaving a thin layer, hopefully then I don't scratch it and the weight is less if it does slide.
Often end up looking like a snowman but rather that than damage the car
