Clear light set on eBay

I used about 2/3s of the can when I did mine 2 weeks ago. Absolutely love the results...

I done about 6 coats of red and 4 coats of laquer.

Any close ups on the lights? Would like to see if they look painted or like the original ones?? Ta
No pictures as that would require effort :P

They dont look like they're painted. Because its 'special' light tinting spray, it somehow goes on transparently (although red). Once you've sprayed laquer over it for protection, you would not know it was painted. They look great. The worst that happens is you ruin them, lose £50, keep your originals and stay away from any home projects again.

Give it a go...

Leon, man up :)

You'll need to put masking tape over the centre cirles. You can see through the tape enough that you can see where to score with a blade. (Dont cut deep though as you dont want to go through the plastic)

It may be time consuming but you may have to try this a few times to get it perfect.

Then spray a coat of red on top of the lights, wait 5, and repeat until you're happy with the shade of red. I think I done about 7 layers

The following day spray layers of laquer over the top for protection. Again do a layer then wait for it to dry/go tacky. I done 4 layers I think.

Then once its all dried, remove the masking tape and marvel at new lights.

Tired, i removed the masking tape circles before laquer'ing. Didn't want to risk a small ridge or anything
Yeah good advice

Another note, do you tell insurance company for clear upgrades? Basically a colour change?
I havent told my insurance company anything. If my car's damaged I'd just count any mods I have done as a loss, or try and salvage them/swap with originals...

Noooooo well my left light is perfect!! The top came off the laquer when I was doing the right one and laquer dripped on the light. I fried to dab and smudged it!!! How can I strip the light back down to plastic if it's had a double coat of laquer on and 6 sprays of tint?

:o How did the top come off!! Was it not a spray?

No idea how to remove it. I presume a fine piece of sandpaper, although I'd be worried it scratches the plastic. I presume you've googled for how to remove laquer..? so hopefully some good advice there??
