Clear light and Angel Eye Conversion - The Project and Story

Both lights sorted and back together... long night!

Washer jets and covers fitted to M bumper. Need some rivets for the strip at the bottom of the bumper, then grills on and ready to fit.

Nice weather for fitting it in...

A few pics;

The headlights were showing some tarnish,

With the lights open, used a hot glue gun to attach them.

Looking good, I'm literally about to take my bumper off to start now. No AE for now though just clear sticks and black inserts. AE will follow I'm sure

Hope you've got a garage. Its a pain doing it outside, especially with this weather. M going on today though

All finished, well, one of the indicator bulbs is out, so will have to get to that tomorrow. (Reachable from wheel arch? I dont fancy taking bumper and lights off again for a while!)

So, dirty car, bumper not quite aligned and number plate missing. I had planned on using the holder from the old bumper but it appears to overhang the lower grill, is this right?

Both lights have misted up somewhat, but as the backs are a couple months old, and i hope i sealed them well, hoping this will clear as it did last time.

The indicator bulb closest to the centre grill is out, so will be a bugger to get to through the wheel arch i think

I have already had a fang kiss the ground coming out of the drive, was very slow so nothing big but jeez, day 1.

I've made templates for the skid plates, so depending how good they are, may be able to have a few sets made.

put me down for a set of skid plates please. mine have taken an absolute hammering after i lowered it :(

misting up seems to be a common problem. mine misted up after my 2nd go at silicone sealant, but seems to have died down now.

those indicator lights should come out easy enough with a screwdriver in the back of them, but may be best to take the whole headlamp off the car for ease of access.

How long did it take for the misting to clear? I got a little in mine last time and it went in a day or so, but the driver side seems to have a lot more this time, like half the lens!

Indicator fixed, now just need to clear the mist...! Never known such problems with headlights.

!@#$%&?/ !@&%$#&* /?***&%&$$##

Thought i'd leave the full beams on for a few mins to dry the lights... $%$## melted the glue on the angel eye so its melted, moved and maybe reset.

Words do not do justice to how pissed off i am right now. Guess its all coming off again tomorrow.

Guys, help me out.

What glue have you used on the AE and what sealant on the lens. The stuff i used on the lens needed 16hrs to fully set!

I used a gluegun on my first set and all was fine until I too had to use the highbeam, then one came loose

Just use adhesive, the same as you used to seal the lights - apply a bit at a time using a knife then tape up until it sets

Lights came out again this morning.

Using 'serious glue' for the AE as it has the highest temp of the adhesives in halfords at 130'C. The inner AE seem ok with the glue gun glue as they're more protected by their outer position and greater distance from the bulb, with lens between.

I never want to do this again though.

I'll test fit and if all working i'll put a little silicone on the rear doors too.
