Clear light and Angel Eye Conversion - The Project and Story

I'm certain you wouldn't have to pay customs as its a service on a second hand item, I know of people that send watches out there for servicing.
I'm sure you're correct, but it depends on how businesses fill in the slips at the other end... a couple of years ago I sent some watch parts to Hong Kong for refurbishment and ended up being stung for customs charges on the way back...

yes! finally found a clear o/s light.

gong to go with black surrounds and use clear film on the indicators i think. should look ok on sterling grey.

Just won a passenger side non xenon clear on eBay for £73  Just need to find a drivers side now

The plan is to get another with a black inner, use the mothed of cutting both sets along the seam and I should be able to make 2 sets. One with black inners and gingers that are tinted and another set with silver inners from my existing lights and the clear boomerangs. I'll strip the light inners from the black set so xenon workings can be fitted into them. I'm sure I seen someone else on here do this.

Good luck with the project!

I'd go with a satin black and use something like plasticote plastic paint.

ever get to a certain point and wonder what the hell you've just done? and how you're going to put it all back together?

that point is now

That's exactly what's putting me off doing it!!

I remember that scene! Sweaty palm time.

It was at this point my other half said "are you absolutely sure you know what you're doing?"

Good luck!

Nargh - it's an important part of solving the problems. Get to the point of no return, then pudh on, then you find innovative ways of solving all the minor concerns.
OK sometimes you have to get your credit card out, but not very often.

Well despite only having one light at the moment I decided to get started as I was eager to see how difficult or easy this might be.

The light was a real pain to cut open. What blades are people using? I used the 1 inch resin cutting disc supplied with my cheap Dremel type tool. I seem to have gone through about 20 discs for this one light so am wondering if these are the best discs to be using.

Anyway, got the light open eventually but the inner was covered in dust. Not really a problem as the light was a donor but don't know how I'm going to prevent this come crunch time.

Next problem, I couldn't get the boomerangs out. I could see they were fixed so tried to remove the inners. After nearly breaking a finger trying to release the tabs that hold this in I lost the plot and just snapped them out. I figured this would let me have a look at the tabs to see how they can be popped out without using the precision tool (claw hammer). All out and still can't see how it's possible and now I can't figure out how to get the orange bulb cover out of the boomerang to wrap it.

Not going well so far. With the mess of this light there is no way I will be cutting my own light open. Hopefully the next donor goes better although I'm currently feeling a bit put off the whole job.

My new LED Angels rings arrived today - these offer a few benefits over the CCFL rings in the way of brightness and are not so brittle

I have a spare set of Amber's I'm going to install these to - will feedback with pictures
