It would appear that the car posted has the de-ginger done using the mirror window tint film and it looks not half bad. Just thought i'd post it here as the complete guide to headlights.

Think the link indicates clear hockey sticks present already, but tint film to cover the amber domes. This is what I did

Hmm, on second look you are maybe right. It looks like he has actually used smoked tint film rather than mirror like yours. This is giving the effect that parts look darker which made me think the whole unit was covered with mirror film and this was a reflection. His hockeys do look very bright in those dark lights. I think the dark tinted hockey done on here is a better solution for the lights with the black inners.

i currently have one facelift headlight courtesy of adamski, but was wondering whether i could just remove the orange plastic bits and tint spray them black and then put them back in the same casings they were removed from?

when i first joined the forum, i must have mis-read and thought you couldn't remove the orange bit but it seems you can.

has anyone done this? if so, pictures would be appreciated

Yes T2FFN did this - I think there are some pics of his lights on this (ever-growing) thread

just had a quick look back and found them. looks pretty good to me.

might just have to do that, something different to the clears.

Yep, I tinted mine. Well, paid a piss poor bodyshop anyway. It was done by adding a little black to some clear laquer, and applying a single coat. They applied two but it was too black, very dark, and I didnt want any MOT fails. I made them rub it back and do it again.

From most angles it looks dark with only hints of any orange in there when the light catches it right. It still flashes nice and orange though

The black looks good with black inners. For silver inners I suppose they could be sprayed black to match the look too

Yeah, mine started off silver. I had them sprayed sapphire black to match the car, rather than just black black.

Anyone got a good shot of tinted ones in daylight from a distance? I've really liked both the ones I've seen on here so far.

The two black toys :twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted:

Thanks for the kind words. It really wasn't my intention to do this, and when I was forced into it, I wanted to keep the silver inners as I liked the contrast, however the black worked really well. I will be taking them apart again maybe next month to add AE, and the M front should be on soon. Important suspension refresh has to come first I'm afraid.

The crotch rocket is all kinds of fun. The best thing is I got T5FFN for the bike, getting a fleet going! 8) I wanted T3FFN but some f*cker bought it at xmas :(

Room for another one in the club?! I've just finished the conversion on my 03 3.0 from tango xenons to clear light and angel eye xenons. I've also wrapped the tango domes in mirror film.

Have to say a big, big thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. Couldn't have even started without all the tips on here.

I wouldn't say it went smoothly (especially getting into the lights: lost count of how many dremmel discs I got through!) but I got there in the end. When I've calmed down from the excitement of it all and stopped just standing in the garden staring at it :) , I'll try to add to this thread with a few things I learnt as I went along.

I think the next thing is someone has to work out how to make them come on when you unlock the car - would love it if they came on when I walk towards the car!
