Its going to be a couple of months before I can get round to attempting to cast these, Norman would it help if I took some detailed photos to give the guys an idea of what they're letting themselves in for? Failing that. I can look at sending them to you to borrow if it'll help the project, but I'll need them back in a couple of months to experiment with the casting, let me know.

Andrew.

Hi Andrew

The photos would be a help of course but its taking the actual items to them that would be the best way forward.

I will be able to call and see them on Tuesday the 13th if you let me have the samples by then it would be great. I would only need them for a few days at most to establish if its a viable project but they would need to keep the samples while producing replacement lenses. The great thing is that the mold production is not destructive and the samples will always be in as good condition as they start out.

Prehaps you could send me the photos while I am waiting for the actual lenses to move things on.

I will PM you with my contact details.

Thanks for your help

Norman

Hi Norman, that's not a problem, I'll see if I can post them to you on Tues or Wednesday when I'm back in the office. Will let you know once I've sent them.

If the company manage to produce them then I won't need the boomerangs back. For their reference, they're made out of PC, will they be making them out of this? (Polycarbonate)

I'll see if I can get some pics for you before then too. Got your details,

Andrew.

Well while this price isnt set in stone as yet, I will need to take the samples for a final costing next week, it would appear that the cost will be around £160 for a pair. There will be some posting costs etc.

This is based on a minimum of 25 pairs at at time and I will need a deposit before I actually place the order.

Please give me some indication of the level of interest.

Norman

Ouch, that's quite a bit more than I was expecting. Especially given I considered buying a certain member's complete pair of clear headlights for £300, which is more appealing...

At £160 I'm out, even at £100 it's a bit steep.

Surely cheaper to take a scrap set of amber and have them sprayed chrome, or even cheeper to have them tinted...

Tinted you say

£160 is cheaper than replacement lights... :?

Sure, but the hassle and time spent in cutting open your lights, plus the chance of damaging or doing a crap job may outweigh it for some

Although saying that... The cut and shut project is straight forward as long as you take your time and read cjeep's instructions
