Cleaning your wheels

Ive got those 108 wheels. I thought "there's not much to these cleaning them will be easy"
How in gods green earth do you get in all the nooks and crannies around the nuts and the end of the stars etc. it took longer to do those than it did the rest of the car :D

Done mine today!

I used "Auto Finesse - Imperial Wheel Cleaner"

and then sealed them using "Poorboys Wheel Sealant"

108's are the easiest wheels in the world to clean. Microfiber MIT for cleaning all over and a detailing brush for bolts. Just keep them waxed and it's a dodde.

Old toothbrush for the bolts, and old 1 inch wide nylon kid's paint brush for in round the wheel bolts and other holes in the centre, and toothbrush + 1 inch round detailing brush for the split in the rim and round the ends of the star. If you use the toothbrush at 90 degrees to the rim on each of the bolts then the bristles get right in amongst it. Oh, and a decent wheel cleaner, then wax every few washes to protect and make cleaning much easier

I am not *that* anal about the car itself as I use it every day - never clayed yet, and polish/wax it not enough - but I am picky about those wheels as when they are done right they look fantastic... Takes me about 45mins to do them most of the time, at least an hour if they get waxed

i agree about the wheels they look better clean. they just seemed to take for ever to clean last nigh... it had gone a bit dark tho :D

what wax did you use for them? the whole car needs a good wax so could i just use the autoglym on wax on them?

do you bother going all the way tot he back of the wheel with a long brush?

I use bilberry wheel cleaner mixed 20% to 80% water in a spray.coat the wheels leave 5min rinse & dry then a coat of poor boys wheel sealent-always look class after!! but it takes me 1-1.30hrs

I have been using Autoglym wheel wax over the summer, however I am going to get one of this Poorboys stuff everyone raves about. I think they are different to body waxes, not sure how though.

And yes, long brush - a Meguires yellow wheel brush - to get all the way across the inside of the rim. That IS very easy on 108s

I took all 4 wheels off my 35i last week and throughly cleaned them.

1 layer of normal car body wax (autoglym resin) then 2 coats of poor boys rim wax.

It was hard work, but hopefully it will be worth it.

Not tried to lean the rims yet after some hard driving, but the dust on the rims looks thinner.

we will see if all of the effort was worth it.

Mine are teflon coated - one of charge to have it done, only rinse the wheels now.
