Cleaning your wheels....

Found this site during a web trawl - some good info on wheel cleaning and the dangers of using acidic cleaners (that'll be Wonders Wheels then..!)

Used to use wonder wheels on other cars, without any probs, though its very bad for split rims,so not used on my z.

prev used megs all wheel cleaner, and since then been using Billbury safe wheel cleaner, both are v good

I use bilbery cleaner diluted to the weaker end of the recommended amount, shifts most brake dust without fuss and is much nicer to work with than wonder (where all my laquer went) wheels.

Would be nice to change the pads to something better performing that BMW oem and less dusty, the oem pads create a ton of dust. :(

I would say get a coat of rim wax (poor boys) or sealent (JS901) on your alloys and just use shampoo as you would on the bodywork.

I'm with Popey on this. Couple of good coats of Poorboys from time to time and then just normal car shampoo with regular washes and have no problems with brake dust.

If anyone in the North West would like to try the wax or seal option, or both let me know. I'm more than happy to let you guys try mine.

Or switch to low dust pads and the problem of cleaning BMW brake dust from your wheels goes away. I have Akebono Euro pads and I can't believe how much cleaner my wheels are.

I use bilberry safe wheel cleaner, followed by chemical boys wheel wax...

brake dust doesn't even stick now :D

Having the soft M wheels, I use just warm water now. If you so much as sneeze at the wheels they will chip :D

As aabove a good wheel wax and my regular shampoo never let the wheels get to gruby so the brake dust does not get a chance to bake on
