cleaning wind deflector

i have the over the hoops all in one wind deflector and since the ash cloud seems to have brought down a loa of dust it is now very dirty in the mesh. How best to clean it?
 
I have the clip-in wind deflector, which I just washed in a sink of warm soapy water. I'm sure you could do the same with the 'over the hoops' one?

It's amazing how much crap gets caught up in the mesh, the water was brown after I'd finished!
 
We have a hoover with a variable suction option :P - that seems to do OK on the deflector and headlining on "minimum suck mode". I have one of those "sonic brush" things with a soft bristle head for internal use (on the car :o ) - that seems so help with anything a bit more "stubborn"

Obviously you have to take care and not attack the thing with great gusto!

Paddy Wright - you've probably sorted this out already, but what about a lint remover? The type you use to get fluff off suits, clothes; roller with a sticky tape. :poke:
 
Carried it into the house and made out to MrsCJ I wash going to wash it. Had it taken off me and presented back real clean after a rinse in soapy water.
 
I had a mesh over the hoops one that I washed in the sink (Z3), a hard folding plastic one with mesh inlays (M3) that I hosed off in the tub with the shower attachment and I have the folding one for the new Zed which I haven't had to clean yet. The first two were fine the way I cleaned them, soapy water and a spray.
If they are made to be outside in the weather they should be fine if they get a little wet. Remember, these are from convertibles so getting wet is a part of design. IMO

Too right - best technique is to do something like open the washing machine door and make like your putting it in, while asking what heat setting for mesh is. You'l be told to get out of the way and it'll be sorted.

Works for most garage items especially polishing mops, cloths and so on.

I find that works quite well for the dishwasher too... :D
 
i have the oem clip in one but the mesh changed for clear acrylic, and it seems effective to me :thumbsup: but i do have the mesh in the small gaps between the hoops also.
