Cleaning wheels is a chore !!

I cannot stand cleaning my wheels, it just feels like a chore. Anyone else agree ?

the fact that the tar refuses to come off when you clean it just p*ss*s me off even more...

You need TarX, IronX and Wheel Woolies. They have made cleaning wheels relatively enjoyable where I could have cared less before.

The 108's on my old Zed were the easiest wheel ever to clean. Maybe because I kept them topped up with wax, but only ever used a MIT and normal shampoo, nothing ever stuck and took seconds to clean.

I'm with you on this one

Little and often where wheel cleaning is concerned. I wash my wheels after pretty much every journey. First thing I do after I'm stopped on the drive.
I have a hose plummed in ready to go, takes two minutes. Just use soap and water:D

I suppose that's a good way to do it. Makes them instantly clean again and saves you doing it when its stubborn. Keeps wheels in mint condition also !!

I agree & cleaning wheels is my least favourite bit but the trouble is they make such a difference to how a car looks so its worth doing well...but I still don't enjoy it.

Wheel cleaning is hard - so i bought wheel woolies and a huge top up of IronX.

Is TarX worth it?

I have had to polish my wheels recently to remove the black streaks that form. CSLs are a PITA to wash :(

Never used TarX... TRIX is supposed to be like a IronX and TarX combo, might be worth a try.

I take mine off every 6 months to give them a proper clean, de tar and seal them back up...

in between times, they can be cleaned with just a jet wash... very easy...

After a little over two years mine (ellipsoids) are starting to look pretty good.

The lazy sod that had the car before me apparently never bothered, and there was brake dust rash all over the place (the rest of the car was in excellent shape). The only way to get rid of it in a hurry would have been something very abrasive.

So I've been cleaning them regularly with an iron-eating wheel cleaner and occasionally taking a clay bar to them. Little by little the crud has come off and their inner beauty is starting to show.

Patience has paid off, but I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed it.

Initially I thought they were easy.... then I realised the bolt-holes get dirty fast :headbang:

You need the 108s Special Detailing Tool - an old toothbrush

Alloys like the rear wheel on this bike would make cleaning sooooo easy

Although it would also make JE really paranoid about the size of his brakes

I use these two and its a joy to clean the wheels on both my cars.

Clean often, polish and wax the rims at least two times a year.
