Hi all,

How do you guys' clean the inside of your rear window. I don't mean what products do you use but how do you get to it so you can give it a good clean? :o

I usually lift it midway up and clean it from the outside :)

Ermmm..... I think if you leave the hardtop in an in-between position, it actually retracts automatically after 2 mins...? :?

According to the owner manual, it is also not recommended (unless the car is fitted with comfort access).

It's a while since I have last done it, but I think the window lowers automatically if the car does not have ignition on. With ignition on it does not, if I remember correctly. And with ignition on I mean key inserted into car (I don't have comfort access.)

The two memory settings I have for my drivers seat is 1) my normal driving position and 2) fully forward to give room behind the seat to access the suit hooks etc, but this also means lots of space to get to the back window to clean it when the seat is fully forward.

I tried the roof up trick, it's just as hard to reach!

Thanks guy's.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for an anorexic double joined midget.

Funny story this. This morning I was on my way to the Duxford car show and as I had cleaned the front window yesterday I noticed that in the sun light it was still badly smeared so I quickly popped into work, where I keep all my cleaning gear, just to give the window another quick clean. I didn't have my classes on at the time but I thought I'd picked up the Autoglym spray bottle and hastily gave the inside front window a few squirts. Then picking up my cloth I started to polish off and then that's when I realised something was not right, I'd only sprayed the bloody window with leather cream cleaner instead. What I thought would be a quick splash and dash turned into a bit of a nightmare. Anyway, my window is lovely and supple now :D

I have just bought a 28i complete with smoker's package (which has clearly been used), so I wanted to thoroughly clean the insides of the windows. I can confirm that with the ignition on, the roof stays where you stop it. Mine also has the smartTOP, but it still stayed put until I closed it again. Without the ignition on, the roof closed after just a few seconds.

Excellent!
I am presuming you don't have your account settings to show dates?
The last reply was nearly 12 years ago! :o Better late than never, though!

It is showing my reply timed at 15:28 for me. No post dates were showing at all until I set my date display preference, but that was over a week ago. I have logged out and back in again in case that helps.

Don't worry about Pondlife's comments. He takes delight in ridiculing other members. Your post was good, applicable info and brought a useful thread back into view.
