Cleaning steering wheel

Hey guys!

Sounds basic.... Any advice to clean the steering wheel?

My tried and trusted method was to use Gliptone liquid leather gentle cleaner then use liquid leather conditioner. Used to provide a gorgeous matte finish smells amazing and lasted ages.

For some reason I cannot get the shine off the wheel. I have cleaned it multiple times left it a few mins to penetrate then used a detail brush to aggitate but it doesn't seem to be budging the shine.

Its an old bottle must have had it 10 years which might be the issue.

The shine is one thing but the wheel is so slippy which is driving me mad.

Anyone got any tips or nice stuff they have been using to clean a leather wheel?

Cheers

Did exactly this yesterday Tom.
Routine job i do every few months as i cant do with the shiny wheel look or feel .

Forget the big detailing names , just a kitchen fleece & a basic cleaner without bleach in.

( also used swarfega in the past with same result )

Baby wipes are brilliant for cleaning steering wheels. Just let it dry naturally, not with a cloth, as that can buff a shine back.

When I got my car the steering wheel was dazzling shiny. Nothing would change this, until I used IPA (not the beer!) slightly diluted with water. Years of black polish/restorer came off. IPA can be harsh on leather and dry it out. Only needed to use it once for this deep clean, just foam cleaner and protector after this. Good luck.
