Cleaning products what do you use.??

Oh boy, after reading this thread - and a full week of googling detailing (what have i done??) - i am now starting to grip with some of these names. Dayum, some of you guys have quite an expensive collection of detailing products

As i am a total newb - like full on detailing newb who thought 1xbucket, 1xsoap, 1xsponge, was sufficient, i am dipping my toes in with the following:

  • Optimum No Rinse - wash and shine (live in a flat, no nearby tap)
Clay bar - going to create clay bar lube using the OCR concentrate
    AutoFinesse Tough Coat
AutoFinesse Ultraglaze or Autobrite Direct Renew
Dodo Juice - Purple Haze Wax
    Lots of MF towels
    Waffleweave towel for drying

This is going to be my 'starter' detailing kit - still not sure if i am doing it right, this is a whole new world to me!

If the above looks incomplete, please shout and point me in a new direction. (I am still to tackle interior and alloys).

Having seen the finish on Cymru's z though, the product suggested are on the waiting list once Ive been through these.

- "car candy" snowfoam with a Nilfisk pressure washer
- BMW wheel cleaner
- Meguires car shampoo with wax
- woolen mitts and car towels from Halfords
- Meguires quick detailer

It's no where near up to scratch with everyone else but it used to be a group of Russian guys and £15 on my last car, stereotypes aside they did a cracking job. Had pictures up of some of the more interesting cars they used to get through, Lamborghini's and such.

I never used a leather. Worse thing ever!!

Either use a towel or as I did (bit extreme) but a garden leaf blower to dry your car is the best thing to use

I have to confess i've developed an expensive car cleaning habit, polishes, waxes (body and wheels), fillers, machine polisher, snow foams, shampoos, technic wheel treatments, microfibres, foam application pads, drying clothes, tyre gel, detailing brushes, clays, rapid detailers, dragons breath, bilberry wheel cleaner, insect and tar removers, spray waxes, wool mits, engine cleaner and on the list goes.. is there a support group out there to help me?

latest purchase:
I hadn't realised just what a difference having a decent lance makes.. the Karcher lance left me feeling pretty unimpressed tbh, the foam used to run off of the car in a couple of minutes even with a concentrated mix or dry to leave streaks before you had the chance to rince it off...

After a few reviews on here i splashed my cash on Amazon and bought the autobrite lance, wow what a difference - i'd expect the foam (autobrite prewash that came with the lance) to dry and form a crust rather than run off: dwell time is amazing. Because it sticks you use less product as a result and the cleaning is deeper: very noticeable after blasting it off.. I just gave the wheels a a quick wipe with a microfibre.. job done! Car was waxed a few weeks ago but i was still expecting to have to have to use a bit of elbow grease - the beer got cracked opened much earlier than expected

NB. Controls are a bit counter intuitive - the plus symbol i expected to mean more foam but it means more water so 1st go had me thinking i'd wasted my money as it was worse than the Karcher.. never has a twist of a knob yielded such satisfaction :)
