I didn't want to jump into CJ's post about a new camera but... I'm thinking of a new one too. The problem is I just emptied my Dad's house (he's now in a seniors lodge , not dead !). As a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society for about a million years you can imagine the stuff I found. Mostly Pentax with a few odds and sods thrown in just to make it interesting.
I have to clear out a ton of film cameras: Pentax PZ-7, a PZ-30, a P-30, an LX with all the attachments, an ME, a Yashica-mat with zoom lenses, a Rapid Omega, and a pile of pocket cameras. He also had a about half a dozen pocket digitals and a Pentax *istD and of course, about 8 or 9 decent lenses. I also have to get rid of an old Pentax SF-1 with two lenses, my Bronica setup, about 4 flash units and a Kodak #3 ( I think it's a #3) in great condition with a box of the glass slides it took. He even had a Kodak Instamatic Reflex with interchangeable lenses. I think I found a High School Art Dept to take his darkroom equipment. I already chucked a pile of stuff in the bin and now have a table covered in filters, hotshoes and every other thing imaginable.
So the question is...where do I go from here if I want a new camera. I currently use a couple of Lumix digitals and a waterproof Canon pocket unit....but they just don't cut it for anything other than "snapshots". I've read reviews on the *istD and it didn't appear to be too great. Bearing in mind that I have a sackful of decent Pentax lenses what's the opinion of the pro's on here....sell it all and go to something else or stick with the Pentax lenses and get a new body to use them with..??
