DannygM3's post about changing the GruppeM specific K&N filter made me think I had a few pics when I cleaned my (very dirty) filter.
Instructions below. Its a 30 mins job and can be applied to other "wet filters" like Green etc. and is well worth doing depending on how much you drive. I skipped the "natural drying" part and used the wife's hairdryer. I reckon I must be getting at least 50 Bhp more now

1. Take it out ( a couple of bolts and screw to loosen the GruppeM Carbon airbox thingy
2. Do it above the sink not to get a bolocking from your better half
3. Use a paint brush etc and give it a few knocks to get the larger stuff out
4. Spray liberally the cleaner, wait a few mins and rince under warm water (repeat until you see the natural cotton colour or the water runs clean)
5. Dry naturally (or get a perplexed look from the wife for using her hairdryer on a wierd cone thingy... and don't tell "just for fun" that its a new sex toy)
6. Spray lightly and evenly the pinky oil stuff, let soak for a few mins, wipe excess off (not using a dish cloth and get a now annoyed look from the wife). Make sure its not over-oiled but that the filter is evenly pink from the oil. Let dry.
7. Clean the rest of the filter housing whilst you're at it
8. Fit back on and enjoy having fettled with your car
