Well its been over 3 years since my last classic car and I cant remember what the rules were on BMW classic car insurance.

As I recall some companies deem any over 10 years to be classic and some are over 15 years?

Also any recommendations? Have tried Lancaster and Footman James as these guys came up cheapest for me years ago on my Scirocco / E24 but now looking at E38s...

Cheers guys

Highly recommend General Accident. Got my 16 year old E36 Breadvan covered by them, although when I come to renew I'll be supplying an agreed value certificate from Munich Legends.

The acceptable age varies between insurers. Some true classic providers will want to see that the car is a second vehicle, garaged, limited mileage, etc - like collectors cars. You will find providers who'll quote other scenarios with varying prices.

Best to start phoning around and do your own comparison - sorry to not be more help.

best,
Nick

Thanks guys, it was useful as always

Now I just have to convince the family I need / can accomodate a 4th car and that being an E38! :(

Those don't sound like classic rates to me. Maybe they're everyday car rates?

I agree, the others sound like they were quoting regular rates (especially those upward of £1000!)
