I didn't read the revue before ordering, I went with 2 wheel drive. Not a lot of actual information about the car in the article, more a sounding board for Clarkson's decent about the BBC - it seems he has a not very well hidden agenda.

TBH he's had digs at the BBC and its political leanings for years, it's not a recent manifestation. Quite like the article, it's a usual mix of hyperbole and detail, with a smattering of humour.

Although I still prefer the 5 series, and if it snows, I'll take the 4x4. And get spat on if I venture into London.

Not a bad article to read, a few good digs at the BBC for easy humour. The only thing I think is a shame, and what contributes to the winter issues, is spreading this myth that 4wd is a the solution. It's not, winter tyres are.

With his style of writing, you can always hear him say it as well

Agree on the X-drive not being a solution, it is another aid but tyres are certainly the other 50%. My X5 on "all weather" tyres will side even faster due to the weight. On snow tyres, it is transformed into a proper 4x4.
