I'd agree with him on the 2.8 model.

I waited on the list for several months, got quite an early delivery slot (a cancelation I believe) and this was my first brand new car, so I was super excited.

The first "spirited" drive in it was one of life's biggest disappointments and almost cost me a trip to hospital. This was a truly terrible car.

However a few months later (after expressing my opinions to the dealer on a few occasions) BMW had 10 M Roadsters in the UK and lent me one for the evening. The rest as they say is history. By contrast I loved the M Roadster and kept it over 5 years.

Best thing about the 2.8..? I kept it for 11 months and traded it in for only £750 less than I bought it for. Those were the days.

I had a 2.8 in 1998. Proud to say I loved it. I recall at the time, Tiff Needell loved them too. Yes, the 2.8. Big wide body, 17 inch round spokes. :D

In their time, they were rare and exotic, in a world of 3 series euro boxes.

I thought you were selling it?

No I pulled it off e-bay  I couldn't do it and the 100s of ebay messages offering me a £100 was wearing thin :x

I actually got quite depressed as the Auction end time neared and I know I would have regretted letting it go. Back in the garage now under a dust sheet.

Tim.

You might have been better selling it on here? People have often made very positive noises about the car.

Your probably right but glad I didn't now, I think putting it on an Auction I was trying to delay the sale, I put a decent reserve on the Zed but was getting alot of daft offers that I just deecided to keep it.

Urm, the above comment was actually directed at the X3, not Z3. Just saying......

Who recalls his comment son the Vectra launch. Vauxhalls biggest 'new' car for years. He liked the wing mirrors and the clever pen holder and dissed the rest of it....

Haha. He always seemed to upset Vauxhall. But he is right, the vectra was crap. You would only drive one if you had no choice, a company car or hire car maybe. But I have seen people buy these second hand with their own money claiming they are such good value. So many better cars you could spend your money on and if you bought new then you are that onion.
