My wifes son drives a 2008 Merc CL500. He got it (with 9k on the clock) for about 1/2 list price when new. What a stonking car. Bloody fast despite the weight, smooth as a babys bottom, comfy, feels as solid as a rock. He does no motorway driving at all, just uses it to pootle to and from work on urban roads, still gets about 20'ish to the gallon with its 5.? litre engine. However, even Douglas Bader would have complained about the leg room in the rear. How such a large coupe could have so little leg room in the back defeats me, it's like invisible space...........it ain't there. Having harped on about rear leg room, the car simply oozez quality, it is beautifully put together. Even the doors seem to hermetically seal the car when you shut them, there is this slightly disconcerting sucking in of the doors as they make contact with the car
