Cigarette power socket.??

Hi folks.
Im a bit puzzled as to why the cigarette lighter power socket on my car doesnt seem to work.
I have gone to plug a usb adapter into it to power up a device, but no power..
Am i missing something.??

Possibly a daft question but did you have the ignition on? Later BMWs don't have the lighter socket permanently live.

Well this is still a mystery.
Both fuses have been checked, also made sure the engine was on, and still no power from the lighter socket...

Perhaps you have bought a No Smoking Car?

You need to clean the contact at the bottom of the lighter socket.
Best to remove it completely and rub it with emery cloth. Also give the casing
a good clean on the inside to ensure both sides of the circuit are making good contact
Over time the surface oxidises and does not make good contact

I use mine occasionally to pump up the tyres.

Works OK. I do it with the engine running, never tried without.
