Cigarette Lighter With ignition

Hello. Is there a way to turn on the cigarette lighter with just the ignition? Instead of it always on?

Hmmm, well the easy answer would be to find an ignition live circuit and connect to that instead.
Trouble is, you start getting into how much current draw there is, how big the fuse should be etc.
What do you want to use it for?
Actually heating the lighter draws a fair bit, but if it's an accessory plugged in there you shouldn't have an issue.

Disclaimer: I am an ex-engines/airframes techy and no diddly about electrics.

There are a spare ignition live fuse location (F2) at the bottom left of the fuse box behind the glove box using a fuse tap you could run a wire to the back of the cig lighter socket and use that feed instead of the original live wire. Insulate the one you replace with insulation tape and tuck it away. Other option would to move the feed wire on Fuse (F5) for the Cig Lighter over to (F2) to make it ignition live.

I had thought you could just recode the behavior, but maybe this is only on the later cars. If I’m not mistaken mine only stays on for 30min, so it is switched/controlled somehow.

Thanks bro! How do I do it though. Sorry for the stupid question. I’m not good at electronics.

I put in a separate socket behind the dash and then fitted a charger behind that

Remove the ashtray so you can access the cig lighter wiring power wire, run a new wire from your chosen ignition controlled fuse location in the fuse box behind the glovebox under the dashboard and down to the ashtray area and connect that to the cig lighter power terminal after disconnecting and insulating the original power wire.
