Chunk out of my alloy wheel surface

Working on my car today, I found this damage to my front alloy wheel. A chunk of the surface is missing!

I cleaned the wheels yesterday and they were fine. I've only driven 22 miles today, then got home to find this.
Any ideas how this could happen and I can repair it? It will need filling?

The wheels got refurbed by a firm in Swindon last year. Maybe I should try them first.

Its just the paint and laquer that have chipped away. Possibly due to applying laquer too soon after painting.
But ur refurbers will claim its stone chip damage if you challenge them i'd suggest.
Touch up time!

As above,
I would also check those dust caps as they can and do seize onto the valve...ask me how I know :headbang:

The dust caps came with the wheels - I brought off eBay. Someone stole two, so I only have two left.
I assume they rust onto the top of the valve stem? Mine are fine.

The two metals react, I think decent brass ones are fine, but alloy ones aren't so good. You can coat with a dab of grease though
