I have a set of chromed clips on my ///m and disappointingly they are showing signs of surface rust, either that or it is rust "bleeding" from the calipers.

Also when positioned they are tricky to reach and keep clean....

Not worth it in my honest opinion.

Are they chromed or just polished? "...rust bleeding from your calipers"? sounds more like owner negligence to me.

20 ducks, they have been on for 2 weeks, and yes it is winter here in the uk.

Negligence lazyness mmmm I clean the vehicle every week but i'll be dammed if i'm reaching into the wheel to polish caliper clips.

And by the way they are chromed hence the rust may be splashes from elsewhere. probably the disc its self.

The process of getting these clips polished and chromed has its flaws to be sure. They will eventually show some sort of corrosion no matter how well they are taken care of. On that note I have been rightfully accused of being rather obsessed with my Z4's appearance to include the rims/brake/suspension area. I remove my tires/rims 3X's per year just to change tires: Summer(Goodyear GS-D3's), Winter (Blizzaks) and in-between (OEM Run-Flats). I thoroughly clean the wheel well and everything else in that area when the rims are changed plus a few times right before a Show n Shine competition. One important change that helped me was getting rid of the OEM brake pads and changing them out to Axxis Deluxe Advanced pads. I have 90% less dust than with the BMW pads. That helps tremendously. Here is a pic of my caliper w/chromed spring, it still looks like this even after 18 months:

Ok - just checked the back and they are different already (317)

mine (Z4M R) have 317 stamped on them too. The fronts have 161 on them

According to RealOEM.com The BMW part numbers for the Z4M seem to be

34112227670 front
34212282198 rear

Anyway, if we can get some in the UK I'm def interested

I'll include "M" sets if it fits into the whole scheme.

317 & 161.........are there any other #'s that should be considered?

any word on this yet? thinking about starting the cleaning process next week and painting the calipers!

I could be interested as well, but I'll not be back at home within the next two weeks.
My zed it's a 2004 3.0i step.
If someone else has already checked...

Nothing yet....it is in the hands of the platers/ They are a different breed to be sure. One thing I found out is that the clips for the 3.0si (US) are priced higher than any of the others. I should have prices and delivery info within about 7-10 days. Sorry for this taking as long as it has but I am at the mercy of others....

I confirm that on a 2004 Z4 3.0i springs are 66 (rear) and 206 (front)

Puffs will work.

BTW. I am going ahead and having some of these made....I'll have them made for the 2.5/3.0/M but not the si model.

Ball park figures are:

Standard model clips (like the ones in my photos on page one) will be in the $60~70 range. It will include a new set of clips (front and rear), stripped/polished/chromed, plus shipping charges.
For the M model: they will be in the $92-97 range plus shipping.
